Transcript of the video interview with defender Scott Gilmour following the 4-0 win against Broughton in the cup match 3rd December 2011

DAD: Today, Tigers were drawn against Broughton in the 1st round of the league cup.  Tigers and broughton have a history together as Broughton were the first team that you played against as Under 10s two years ago.  Today was to get through to the next round of the cup, Scott why don’t you sum up today how you felt the game went.

Scott:  We started off brightly and were rewarded with an early goal, a wonderstrike by Nick Comer.  He picked the ball up outside of the left hand side of the box and created an opportunity to either cross or have a shot.  He went for the shot and the ball looped high and dropped into the top right hand corner, giving the keeper no chance.

After that though the game got a bit scrappy for M&T as we got bogged down in the middle of the pitch.

I had a bit of an uneasy start but Jacob & Lewis were in good form throughout the game.  In fact a lot of our chances in the second half came from the left hand side when Jacob & Findlay combined to create the opportunities.

DAD: Before we get to the second half, I thought Adam played really well in the first half and seemed to enjoy having the extra space on that wide pitch.

SCOTT: Definitely, he scared the defense with all his weaving and turning around them,

Dad: yes and his pace as he ran at the defense.

Scott: His link up play with Findlay & Rob Sills was very good.

Dad: Agreed, it was quite tight at times in the first half, I could see you guys are still getting used to the 3-5-2 formation but you all did well and then took advantage of the sun behind you in the second half.

SCOTT: Because of the new formation we were able to push forward and give their defense a hard time. Findlaybeat two on the left and gave an inch perfect ball to Rob who got in front of the defender and dummied the keeper with his fancy feet to dribble it into the goal.  Making it 2-0.

DAD: Adam was unlucky when he hit the post after doing everything right.

SCOTT: That’s right but he had a similar but harder opportunity a few minutes later when he was again one on one with the keeper but had less time and the defender right next to him. This time he placed the ball just right of the keeper to make it 3-0

Dad: The 4th goal was a bit unorthodox,

SCOTT: Yes, Hoggie lobbed the ball really high into the air and Sillsy took the most delicate of touches and it rolled past the keeper who was challenging for the ball into the goal.

DAD: Hoggie received man of the match today, but there were other contenders, such as Adam, Sillsy & Jacob today and I was also impressed by James Lemon in the last 10 minutes who was very vibrant in the middle of the midfield.

SCOTT: Yes & WillGarlandand Nick Evans played the holding position well although Will G also took on a few people and started going around them,

Dad: I think so, although it was on the other side of the pitch so everyone looks tiny on the video clip. Ok so how woudll you sum up the game.

SCOTT: First half, we could have done with waking up a bit more, whereas in the second half it is was as if someone had poured a bucket of water over us.

Dad: Well, well done Tigers, through to the next round, let’s hope for a good tie and back to the league next week home against Porton. Thanks Scott.
